Takeaways from the 2024 AWS Summit 

At this year’s coveted AWS Summit in Toronto, attendees gathered to learn how technologies like Generative AI, cloud, and analytics are transforming our ability to lead in the digital era. Alida’s Senior Director of Engineering, Vincy William, attended as a speaker and panelist, discussing the innovative ways Alida uses generative AI across its platform to revolutionize modern research practices. Generative AI has an exciting potential to revolutionize the way researchers collect qualitative data. However, the current challenge the industry is facing with qualitative analysis lies in capturing its uniquely human aspects. It's not just about the words themselves, but the common theme, sentiment, and nuance behind them—elements that traditional research technologies have struggled to translate into actionable insights. When Generative AI entered the mainstream around 2022, Alida immediately saw its potential to revolutionize this space and made it a priority to integrate it into our research solutions. Alida platform architecture was carefully designed to support AI based advancements. This strong foundation ensured Alida could seamlessly integrate with leading AI systems. 

As early adopters of Generative AI, we identified new ways to enhance data analysis through advanced techniques such as topic sentiment analysis. Rather than relying solely on keyword extraction, these AI models allowed us to uncover specific themes and analyze the deeper sentiment within open-ended text, capturing both positive and negative feedback with far greater accuracy.

To further advance our AI capabilities, we chose to partner with OpsGuru, a Premier AWS Cloud Consulting Partner. With OpsGuru's guidance, Alida joined the exclusive early-access AWS Bedrock cohort, allowing us direct access to the developers behind Anthropic’s Generative AI model and placing us as one of the very first research platforms to be using Generative AI in this capacity. 

Using Bedrock and the Anthropic Claude AI model, we’ve greatly enhanced the speed, precision, and depth of our qualitative data analysis methods including sentiment analysis and topic summarization—something our customers have already been using and loving. 

For example, one of our customers, a major global retailer, collects vast amounts of feedback daily from customers across their international stores in multiple languages. They needed a solution that could quickly process this data back into one language to enable same-day action. With the Generative AI solution we provided, they can now consolidate and analyze all feedback into a single language within hours. 

In another instance, we worked with a healthcare company to analyze thousands of open-ended feedback responses about their cancer care services. What used to take them weeks or even months to complete, we helped them to achieve in just a few hours, delivering high-quality results. This rapid analysis enabled them to identify common patient concerns and prioritize improvements to their services effectively.

Our partnership with AWS also ensures privacy and compliance are built into the core of our AI solutions, meeting global security standards while delivering cutting-edge results. As a result, Alida now empowers global brands to process large datasets in a matter of hours, not weeks, providing insights at unparalleled speed.
